What People Say

Inspiration from travelling surf families

There’s nothing quite like the magic of sitting outback in the warm sea, with a view of the jungle spilling onto the beach, howler monkeys calling in the distance, scarlet macaws squawking and pelicans casually cruising past you. Costa Rica pulls us back again and again: the warm ocean, rich wildlife, beautiful beaches and the laidback lifestyle.

Cornwall has been our top destination for summer surfing holidays in the UK for years. The girls love to take surf lessons and explore the different adventure parks, while myself and Bob enjoy the great restaurants and pubs along the coast.

We love to spend our surfing holidays in Cornwall. We fly direct to Newquay from Düsseldorf, which makes the journey super easy with the children. From the airport it’s just 5 minutes’ transfer to Watergate Bay, where we love to surf the mellow high-tide waves and eat delicious food at the various restaurants in the bay.

Carina & Stefan

Barbados is an easy and exotic family surfing destination, with waves for everyone and plenty of shade under the palm trees for toddlers. Being a small island, after a direct flight it’s also a short transfer to your hotel and it’s also easy to hire a car and explore outside of the resorts if you want to.

Barbados is an awesome destination for a family surf holiday. The kids loved swimming with turtles and catching easy, warm waves. There are lots of fun longboard spots and more challenging spots on the west coast. There’s something for everyone. And it’s warm enough to surf in boardies!

We’ve travelled as far as Australia for family surf trips, but we go back to Portugal every year as nowhere ticks as many boxes: it’s easy to get to, sunny year-round and there’s more challenging waves for me and little peelers for the kids.
