TRAVEL INFO
A dream surf destination – with clean offshore conditions from December to April, Costa Rica’s Pacific Coast flaunts long, sandy beaches and a mix of mellow waves, hollow beach breaks and reeling reefs. An average water temperature of 28C means you’ll only ever need boardies or a bikini, and there are plenty of surfing set-ups and stylish surfing resorts right beside the waves. When you book a holiday with Family Surf Co. we’ll send you a personalised family surfing guide to Costa Rica with all of our favourite surfing beaches.
Watch nesting turtles, explore rainforests, spot monkeys, stand under waterfalls and go horse riding.
Simple and delicious cuisine to keep you fuelled up for surfing adventures. Start the day with tortillas de queso (cheese tortillas), snack on tropical fruit and dine out on fresh seafood and traditional favourites such as gallo pinto (black beans and rice).
Getting to Costa Rica is easy with direct flights from London to San Jose taking about 11 hours; from here there are several domestic flights to small, regional airports or you can organise a shuttle to your accommodation. If you are heading to the Guanacaste region or Nicoya Peninsula, it’s quicker to fly into Liberia airport, however there are no direct flights from the UK.

Guest Reviews

“There’s nothing quite like the magic of sitting outback in the warm sea, with a view of the jungle spilling onto the beach, howler monkeys calling in the distance, scarlet macaws squawking and pelicans casually cruising past you. Costa Rica pulls us back again and again: the warm ocean, rich wildlife, beautiful beaches and the laidback lifestyle.” Jess Cook
