Choose from a selection of self-catering and hotel accommodation a short stroll from the waves. The designer hotel suites offer all the trimmings, including luxury bedding, Sky TV and Cowshed products and flip flops. We love the Family Garden Suites, which are extra spacious and airy, with their own private sun room, direct access to the coastal gardens and pull-down bunk beds for up to two children.

Extended family groups can accommodate a 'Room Pod' – a cluster of 3 or 4 rooms in the main hotel, which share a private hallway. These sleep 6-8 guests, with breakfast included. The 5-Star self-catering apartments boast sea and garden views, spacious open-plan living and dining spaces and the perfect family crash pad for a Cornwall coastal holiday.

If you prefer more space and privacy, opt for a coastal 4-Star Coastal Villa, where you can enjoy the luxury of your own home with all the luxuries of a hotel stay. Some rooms and suites are dog-friendly.

Whichever accommodation you choose, enjoy flawless family facilities at your fingertips including:

  • On-site Shorecrest and Sea Side restaurants.
  • Indoor swimming pool and biomass-heated outdoor pool.
  • Gym with fully qualified fitness trainers.
  • Mini Moritz Kids' Club and Club Room.
  • The Cowshed Spa.
  • Tennis court and table tennis.
  • The beach is only a short stroll away, but if you feel like taking it really easy there's a Landrover shuttle service running throughout the day.
  • The St Moritz can provide a list of trusted babysitters on speed dial for when you need a little alone time, or grown-up surf or a quiet dinner in the Shorecrest Restaurant.

The St Moritz is a hop and a skip over the cliffs from Polzeath Beach, one of Cornwall's most consistent surf breaks luring all levels of surfers. The professionals at Era Adventures offer surfing lessons for beginners, intermediate and advanced surfers. As accredited members of Surf Lifesaving GB, the International Surf Federation and the Royal Lifesaving Society, Era Adventures ensure that your safety is paramount while guests of all ages can have fun while learning to surf or improving their technique. All equipment is included in the session.

As well as the popular spot of Polzeath, there are plenty of other divine beaches to enjoy on the doorstep of the St Moritz. Go rockpooling at Greenaway beach, a short stroll from the hotel, and pad along the coast path to the golden sands of Daymer Bay and Rock.

Water temps range from 9-10C in winter to 15-18 in summer – so you’ll need at least a 3/2mm wetsuit in summer and 5/4mm in winter.

Surrounded by the foodie Mecca of North Cornwall, it's little surprise that much of the food served at the St Moritz comes fresh from the nearby coast and countryside. The Shorecrest Restaurant and Sea Side café feature seasonal menus that make the most of nature's bounty – from just-caught seafood to local veg.

Both restaurants serve children’s menus to keep even the fussiest of eaters satisfied. Shorecrest offers a sophisticated evening dining option, with a varied menu of local seasonal produce cooked in the open-plan kitchen. The Sea Side café is open all day (during peak season) serving lunch, snacks and sandwiches.

If you can stray from the delicious food on offer at the St Moritz, you'll find a handful of family-friendly foodie gems on the doorstep. Tuck into mussels, catch of the day and children's classics at the Mariners in Rock. Hop on the Black Tor ferry across to Padstow, where you can have fish and chips by the harbour or dine in the restaurants of celeb chefs including Paul Ainsworth and Rick Stein. Make sure you same fresh Porthilly oysters plucked from the oyster beds in the Camel Estuary. When you book a family surfing holiday with us we will provide a guide to the best family restaurants close to the St Moritz.

  • Try coasteering, mountain biking, sea kayaking and SUP with Era Adventures.
  • Walk along the South West Coast Path to Daymer Bay or Polzeath. From Polzeath strike out to the wild territory of The Rumps.
  • Hop aboard the Black Tor Ferry to Padstow.
  • Grab nets and buckets for a rockpooling ramble to Greenaway beach.
  • Go for a paddle at Daymer Bay and walk to the top of Brea Hill for a picnic.
